Description

Discover how to make delicious Korean Soy Garlic Chicken Thighs in an air fryer. This easy recipe will elevate your cooking game!

Ingredients

  • 454 g (1 lb) bone-in chicken thighs or boneless chicken thighs
  • 1/4 tsp (1 ml) sesame seeds for garnishing
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) green onions finely chopped for garnishing
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) regular soy sauce
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) vegetarian stir fry sauce
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) honey or maple syrup, brown sugar, or light corn syrup
  • 5 ml (1/2 tbsp) sesame oil
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) dark soy sauce
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) beef broth
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) grated ginger
  • 5 ml (1/2 tsp) garlic powder
  • 25 ml (1/4 tsp) white pepper or black pepper

Instructions

  1. Carefully remove the bones from the chicken thighs by making small cuts around the bone with a sharp knife until the bone can be taken out. If using boneless thighs, you can skip this step.
  2. Place the chicken thighs into a large bowl. Add the marinade ingredients to the bowl and rub them into the chicken until thoroughly coated. Let the chicken sit in the marinade for 15 minutes, or refrigerate it overnight for deeper flavor.
  3. Lightly coat the air fryer basket with vegetable oil or cooking spray, or line the bottom with air fryer parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  4. Arrange the chicken thighs in a single, flat layer in the basket, ensuring the skin side is facing up. You may need to cook them in batches based on the capacity of your air fryer.
  5. Cook the chicken in the air fryer at 375 degrees F for 8-9 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 F as checked with a digital instant-read thermometer and the skin is nicely browned. There is no need to turn them over halfway. Note that cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer, so keep an eye on them.
  6. Once cooked, take the chicken out and slice it into pieces. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions for garnish.

Notes

  • Marinate the chicken thighs in the refrigerator overnight for a more intense flavor.
  • Carefully remove bones from bone-in chicken thighs to ensure even cooking.
  • Adjust the amount of honey or sweetener in the marinade to suit your taste, and consider adding a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for a balanced touch of acidity.
