Ingredients

  • – 4 chicken breasts (boneless and skinless, cut in half) (680g)
  • – 1 cup (240 ml) milk
  • – 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • – 1/2 tsp (3 ml) garlic powder
  • – 1/2 tsp (3 ml) smoked paprika
  • – salt and pepper (to taste)
  • – 1/4 cup (60 ml) hot sauce
  • – 1/4 cup (60 ml) apple juice
  • – 2 tbsp (30g) vegetable oil
  • – 1/2 tsp (3 ml) chili powder
  • – 1/2 tsp (3 ml) garlic powder
  • – 2 tbsp (8g) fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Put the chicken pieces in a big bowl and pour milk over them, ensuring they are completely submerged. Cover with cling film and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes or up to a day.
  2. In a shallow container, blend together the flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
  3. Take the chicken out of the milk, letting any extra drip off. Coat the chicken in the flour mixture, shaking off the surplus.
  4. Set your air fryer to heat up to 375°F.
  5. Arrange the chicken pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly coat both sides of the chicken with cooking spray.
  6. Cook the chicken for 12-15 minutes, until it turns a golden color and is cooked through.
  7. In a small pan, mix together the hot sauce, apple juice, vegetable oil, chili powder, and garlic powder. Heat on a low flame, stirring occasionally, until everything is melted and smooth.
  8. Pour the hot mixture over the chicken in the air fryer basket. Use a spoon to spread it evenly across the chicken.
  9. Put the basket back in the air fryer and cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbling and caramelized.
  10. Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on the chicken if you like. Serve while hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Adjust the level of hot sauce to your liking for a spicier taste.
  • Experiment with various herbs and spices in the flour mix for a unique flavor.
  • Ensure to remove excess flour from chicken before air frying for a crispy crust.
