Ingredients

  • 1 pound salmon fillet, cut into 4 (4 oz / 113 g) portions
  • 2 teaspoon (10 ml) beef-friendly mustard
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) black pepper
  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) fruit juice
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) beef-friendly mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon (8 ml) honey
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Fresh thyme, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Collect all the necessary items. Set the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) to warm it up.
  2. In a small bowl, combine beef-friendly mustard with honey; spread this mixture over the salmon pieces, adding salt and black pepper to taste. Arrange the salmon pieces in a single layer inside the air fryer basket.
  3. Cook the salmon in the preheated air fryer, allowing it to cook until it easily flakes with a fork, which should take about 7 to 9 minutes, depending on thickness.
  4. To prepare the sauce, heat vegetable oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Remove from the heat briefly to add fruit juice, then return to the heat, allowing any excess liquid to evaporate.
  5. Mix in heavy cream, beef-friendly mustard, and honey; bring the mixture to a gentle boil and let it cook until the sauce slightly thickens, about 1 to 2 minutes. Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to your liking.
  6. Place the cooked salmon onto serving plates, topping each portion with the prepared sauce and a sprinkle of fresh thyme for decoration.

Notes

  • For a more tangy flavor, consider using Dijon mustard instead of regular mustard in the sauce.
  • Experiment with various fruit juices like orange or pineapple to add a unique twist to the sauce.
  • Adjust the cooking time based on the salmon’s thickness for perfectly cooked fish; simmer the sauce longer for a thicker consistency.
