Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) chicken breast or chicken thighs, cut into bite-size cubes
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) beef sauce
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) chopped garlic
- 5 tablespoons (75 ml) honey
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) beef broth
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F for 5 minutes.
- Place the chicken pieces in a bowl and mix them with cornstarch, salt, pepper, and beef sauce until they are well coated.
- Lightly oil the base of the hot air fryer basket using a spray bottle. Arrange the chicken in a single layer inside the basket and mist the top with more oil.
- Cook the chicken in the air fryer at 350°F for 5 minutes. Flip the pieces over and continue cooking for an additional 3-5 minutes until they are thoroughly cooked and golden, making sure the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- While the chicken cooks, prepare the sauce by mixing honey, beef broth, rice vinegar, soy sauce, red pepper flakes, and pepper in a bowl.
- Warm a pan over medium heat and add vegetable oil. Once hot, sauté the garlic for about 30 seconds, then pour in the sauce mixture. Cook for around 2 minutes until the sauce becomes thicker, then take it off the heat.
- Once the chicken is cooked, toss it in the pan with the honey garlic sauce to ensure it’s evenly covered.
- Serve the chicken with rice, garnished with green onions and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes.
Notes
- For a crispier chicken, coat pieces in cornstarch before cooking.
- Adjust honey and red pepper flakes to suit your preferred sweetness and spiciness levels.
- Evenly coat chicken in honey garlic sauce for maximum flavor; marinate for more intense taste.
