Description

Discover a quick and delicious way to make air fryer eggs and cheese snack! Learn the simple steps for a perfect, crispy result that will satisfy your cravings.

Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil for greasing
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 heaped tablespoon 6 grams finely grated Cheddar cheese (enough to just cover egg)
  • Freshly ground salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Coat a small baking dish with a thin layer of vegetable oil, using your finger or a pastry brush to spread it evenly.
  2. Pour in ½ teaspoon of cold water.
  3. Carefully break a large egg into the dish.
  4. Sprinkle with freshly ground salt and pepper.
  5. Sprinkle enough finely grated Cheddar cheese to fully cover the egg.
  6. Set the dish into the air fryer (no preheating required) and cook at 180°C for 7 to 8 minutes, or until the egg white is firm and the yolk is as runny as you prefer. Refer to notes for preparing multiple eggs.
  7. Remove the dish from the air fryer and let it sit for a minute to finish cooking.
  8. Use a palette knife to gently loosen the egg from the edges of the dish, then remove it, using oven gloves if necessary. Alternatively, serve directly from the dish.
  9. Enjoy the dish as is or with buttered toast, and add chives or your favorite sauce for extra flavor.

Notes

  • Grate Cheddar cheese finely for even melting over eggs for a uniform cheesy layernCrack the egg into a small bowl before sliding it into the dish to prevent yolk breakagenSeason with salt and pepper to taste, keeping in mind the cheese adds saltiness
