Description

Learn how to make delicious and crispy Air Fryer Churros at home with this easy recipe. Perfect for a tasty dessert or snack anytime!

Ingredients

  • – 1 cup (240 ml) water
  • – 1/3 cup (80 g) vegetable oil, cut into cubes
  • – 2 Tbsp (30 ml) granulated sugar
  • – 1/4 tsp (1 ml) salt
  • – 1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
  • – 2 large eggs
  • – 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • – oil spray
  • – 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • – 3/4 tsp (4 ml) ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Position a silicone mat on a baking tray and lightly coat it with oil spray.
  2. In a medium pot, combine water, vegetable oil cubes, sugar, and salt. Heat until it starts to boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Lower the heat to medium-low, then incorporate the flour into the pot, stirring continuously with a rubber spatula until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Take the pot off the heat and move the dough to a mixing bowl, allowing it to cool for 4 minutes.
  5. Add eggs and vanilla extract to the bowl, then blend with an electric mixer until the dough is well-combined and resembles sticky mashed potatoes. Shape it into a ball with your hands and place it in a large piping bag with a star-shaped nozzle.
  6. Pipe the churros onto the oiled mat in 4-inch segments, cutting the ends with scissors as needed.
  7. Chill the piped churros on the tray in the refrigerator for an hour.
  8. Gently move the churros using a cookie spatula into the Air Fryer basket, ensuring there’s a 1/2-inch gap between each. Lightly spray them with oil spray. You may need to cook them in several batches depending on your Air Fryer’s capacity.
  9. Cook in the Air Fryer at 375 degrees F for 10-12 minutes until they achieve a golden brown color.
  10. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
  11. Promptly roll the cooked churros in the sugar-cinnamon mixture to coat them evenly. Do this in batches. Serve warm, alongside Nutella or a chocolate sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Ensure the eggs are at room temperature for the dough to mix properly and achieve the desired consistency.
  • Space out the piped churros on the baking tray before chilling to ensure a crispier texture.
  • Adjust cooking time in the Air Fryer based on churros’ size and thickness for a golden brown finish.
