Ingredients
- 1 sheet Puff pastry (1 sheet)
- 200 g (7 oz) Jam (200 g)
- 1 egg
- powdered sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Take the puff pastry out of the refrigerator and set the oven to preheat at 200ºC / 400ºF / Gas mark 6.
- Lightly sprinkle flour on the countertop and unfold the puff pastry.
- Evenly spread the jam across the surface of the pastry.
- Fold the pastry sheet in half like closing a book.
- Slice the folded pastry into strips using a knife.
- Twist each strip and place them on a baking sheet, bending one end to form a cane shape and leaving space between each.
- Beat the egg gently with a fork, then brush it over the pastry using a pastry brush.
- Bake for 10-14 minutes until they achieve a golden brown color.
- Serve immediately or let them cool down. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar.
- Heat the air fryer to 200ºC / 400ºF / Gas mark 6. Arrange a few pastry canes in the air fryer, ensuring there’s room for them to expand. If your air fryer has stackable racks, you can cook more simultaneously.
- Cook in the air fryer for 8-10 minutes until they turn golden brown.
Notes
- Experiment with various flavors of jam to personalize the taste of your puff pastry twists.
- For a sweeter touch, sprinkle powdered sugar over the pastry twists before serving.
- Consider using an air fryer for a faster and crispier cooking method compared to baking in the oven.
