Ingredients
- 454 g ground beef (80% lean)
- 30 ml vegetable oil
- 15 ml beef base (such as Better than Bouillon®)
- freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Set your air fryer to a temperature of 400 degrees F (195 degrees C) to preheat.
- Shape the beef into four rounds, each about 3/4 inches thick and 4 1/2 inches across. Ensure the rounds are slightly larger than the buns to account for any reduction in size during cooking.
- In a small bowl, combine the warm melted butter with the beef base. Mix well and gently coat both sides of the beef rounds with this mixture, then sprinkle with ground black pepper to taste. Place the rounds in the air fryer basket. If your air fryer isn’t large enough, you might need to prepare them in separate batches.
- Cook the beef rounds by air frying for 7 minutes, turning them over halfway through the cooking time, to achieve a medium level of doneness. If you prefer them well done, continue air frying for an extra 2 minutes.
Notes
- Try enhancing the flavor by mixing minced garlic or onion powder with the beef and butter mixture before coating the beef rounds.
- Experiment with seasonings like paprika, cayenne pepper, or Worcestershire sauce to customize the taste of your beef rounds.
- Prevent sticking by lightly brushing or spraying the air fryer basket with vegetable oil before placing the beef rounds in.
