Ingredients

  • 1 lb (454 g). boneless beef sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 3 cup (720 ml) s small broccoli florets
  • 1 cup (240 ml) bite-size strips red bell pepper
  • 4 green onions, sliced (white and green parts separated)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) less-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoon (45 ml) rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon (30 ml) s honey
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) grated fresh ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) toasted sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) crushed red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) cornstarch
  • 2 cup (480 ml) s hot cooked white rice
  • Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Set your air fryer to heat up to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a big bowl, combine the beef pieces, broccoli, red bell pepper, and the white parts of the sliced green onions with vegetable oil.
  3. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with a non-stick spray. Spread the beef and vegetable mixture evenly in the basket.
  4. Cook the mixture for roughly 5 minutes. Stir and continue cooking until the meat reaches your preferred level of doneness, such as 145°F (62°C) for medium, which should take an additional 6 to 8 minutes. Let the cooked mixture rest for about 5 minutes after removing it from the fryer.
  5. In the meantime, make the sauce by mixing soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, grated ginger, minced garlic, toasted sesame oil, and crushed red pepper in a small saucepan.
  6. Heat the sauce mixture until it starts to boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer uncovered until it reduces to about 1/2 cup, which should take around 10 minutes.
  7. In a separate small bowl, blend cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water until smooth.
  8. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the simmering sauce, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens, approximately 1 minute.
  9. Combine the cooked beef and vegetables with the sauce in a serving dish.
  10. Sprinkle the dish with the remaining green parts of the green onions.
  11. Serve the dish alongside hot cooked white rice, and add a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds for garnish.

Notes

  • Ensure beef is well-coated with vegetable oil for a consistent sear in the air fryernFor a thicker sauce, stir the cornstarch mixture thoroughly into the simmering saucenLet the cooked beef and vegetables rest for 5 minutes to enhance flavor and tenderness
