Ingredients
- 1 ½ – 2 pounds (680 – 907 g) baby potatoes, washed, chopped in half or quarters
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ teaspoon (1.25 ml) garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon (1.25 ml) onion powder
- ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt, more or less to taste
- ¼ teaspoon (1.25 ml) black pepper, more or less to taste
- ½ cup (60 g) freshly grated cheddar cheese, more or less to taste
- chives, optional
Instructions
- Rinse the baby potatoes thoroughly, ensuring they’re clean. Dry them completely using paper towels or a kitchen towel. Cut them into halves or quarters, based on their size.
- Set the air fryer to 390°F to preheat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cut potatoes with olive oil, minced garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper, making sure they are evenly coated.
- Mix in approximately half of the freshly grated cheddar cheese with the potatoes and stir again.
- Lightly coat the preheated air fryer basket with cooking spray, then place the potatoes inside. Set the air fryer for a total of 25 minutes, giving the basket a shake every 5 minutes.
- Around the 20-minute mark, add the remaining cheddar cheese to the potatoes and give the basket another shake. Continue air frying for an additional 3 to 7 minutes until the potatoes are soft when pierced with a fork.
- Take the potatoes out of the air fryer, garnish with chopped chives, extra cheese, and additional salt and pepper if desired. Serve promptly and enjoy!
Notes
- Try enhancing the flavor by adding a dash of paprika or cayenne to the potato mixture before air frying.
- Mix things up by incorporating different cheeses like mozzarella or parmesan for a unique taste experience.
- Achieve a crunchier texture by extending the air frying time slightly, ensuring the potatoes don’t burn.
