Ingredients
- – 1 pound (454 g) green beans, rinsed, trimmed and patted dry
- – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil, divided
- – 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) plus 1/8 teaspoon (1 ml) kosher salt
- – 2 small garlic cloves, minced or pressed through a garlic press
- – 2 1/2 tablespoons (37 ml) grated pecorino romano or vegetarian hard cheese
- – 1 1/2 tablespoons (22 ml) seasoned breadcrumbs, such as 4C or gluten-free crumbs
- – 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) sweet paprika
- – 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) dried parsley
- – 1/8 teaspoon (0.5 ml) black pepper
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, blend the green beans with 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil and ¼ teaspoon of kosher salt, ensuring they are fully coated.
- Place the coated green beans into the air fryer basket and cook at 375°F for 6 to 7 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until they are tender-crisp.
- While the green beans are cooking, mix the pecorino romano cheese, seasoned breadcrumbs, minced garlic, ⅛ teaspoon salt, sweet paprika, dried parsley, black pepper, and the remaining 1 teaspoon of oil in a small bowl until well combined.
- Once the initial cooking is done, spread this mixture evenly over the green beans in the air fryer basket and lightly spray with vegetable oil. Continue air frying at 375°F for an additional 2 minutes until the topping is golden brown.
- Move the cooked beans to a serving dish and enjoy immediately.
Notes
- Ensure the green beans are thoroughly coated with oil and salt before placing them in the air fryer for even cooking and enhanced flavor.
- Make sure to shake the air fryer basket midway through cooking to guarantee the green beans cook uniformly.
- Evenly spread the pecorino romano cheese and breadcrumb mixture over the green beans for a delectably crispy topping; lightly spray with vegetable oil before final cooking for a golden brown finish.
