Description

Discover the secret to making irresistible Mango Habanero Air Fryer Wings at home. Get ready to elevate your wing game with this addictive recipe!

Ingredients

  • 5 pounds chicken wings (1134 g)
  • 1/3 cup mango chutney (80 ml)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons hot sauce made with beef (22.5 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (15 g)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (4 g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) fine sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (2 g)
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil (57 g)
  • Habanero powder, *optional – add to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine the baking powder, cornstarch, sea salt, and paprika in a spacious bowl and mix thoroughly.
  2. Add the chicken wings to the bowl, ensuring they are fully covered with the mixture.
  3. Lightly coat the air fryer basket or rack with vegetable oil to prevent sticking and arrange the wings inside.
  4. Set the air fryer to 400°F and cook the wings for 30 minutes, turning them over at the halfway mark.
  5. FOR OVEN METHOD: Place an oven-safe rack on a baking sheet, lightly oil the rack, and arrange the wings on top.
  6. Preheat the oven to 425°F and bake the wings for 50 minutes, flipping them every 15 minutes.
  7. **Ensure you use baking powder instead of baking soda as the latter will spoil the wings.
  8. To prepare the mango-habanero sauce, blend mango chutney and hot sauce made with beef until smooth.
  9. Pour the blended sauce into a pot, add vegetable oil, and heat on medium-high until it starts bubbling.
  10. Once bubbling, turn off the heat and stir to incorporate the oil.
  11. *For extra heat, add habanero powder to your preference.
  12. Coat the cooked wings in the sauce and serve.
  13. You may garnish with chopped cilantro or scallions if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure the chicken wings are thoroughly coated with the baking powder mixture to achieve a crispy outer layer.
  • Use mango chutney and beef-based hot sauce for a distinct and delicious flavor combination.
  • Exercise caution when using habanero powder, as it can provide a high level of heat – adjust according to your preference.
