Description

Learn how to make delicious Asian Air Fryer Sesame Chicken with Mustard Dressing in just 20 minutes! Perfect for a quick and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (454 g) bone-in chicken thighs or boneless chicken thighs
  • 1/4 tsp (1.25 ml) sesame seeds for garnishing
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) green onions finely chopped for garnishing
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) vegetarian stir fry sauce
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) honey or maple syrup, brown sugar, or light corn syrup
  • 1/2 tbsp (7.5 ml) sesame oil
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) beef broth
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) grated ginger
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp (1.25 ml) white pepper or black pepper

Instructions

  1. If using chicken thighs with bones, carefully cut around the bone with a sharp knife to remove it. Skip this step if your chicken thighs are boneless.
  2. Place the chicken into a large mixing bowl. Add the marinade components and thoroughly rub them into the chicken until well coated. Let the chicken marinate for 15 minutes, or store it in the refrigerator overnight.
  3. Lightly coat the air fryer basket with vegetable oil, cooking spray, or place air fryer parchment paper at the bottom.
  4. Arrange the chicken thighs in a single, even layer in the basket with the skin side facing up. Depending on your air fryer’s capacity, you may need to cook them in batches.
  5. Cook the chicken in the air fryer at 375 degrees F for 8-9 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 F using a digital thermometer and the skin is golden brown. There is no need to turn them halfway. Note that cooking times may vary between air fryers, so keep an eye on it.
  6. Once the chicken is done, cut it into slices. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish.

Notes

  • Marinate the chicken thighs in the refrigerator overnight for a more flavorful dish.
  • Arrange the chicken thighs in a single layer in the air fryer basket for even cooking.
  • Check the internal temperature of the chicken with a digital thermometer to ensure it is fully cooked.
