Description

Discover how to make a delicious Asian sesame chicken feast in just 20 minutes using an air fryer. Easy recipe for a quick and flavorful meal!

Ingredients

  • 2 lb (900 g) boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) corn starch
  • 6 tsp (30 ml) brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) ketchup
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce, low sodium
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) sesame oil
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) corn starch mixed with 2 tsp (10 ml) water
  • sesame seeds for topping

Instructions

  1. Chop the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and coat them with 2 tablespoons of corn starch. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil, arrange the chicken pieces in a single layer without overlapping, and mist them with cooking spray.
  2. Air fry the chicken at 380°F for 14 minutes, turning them over halfway through cooking. The chicken should be crispy and a golden brown color.
  3. While the chicken cooks, combine 2 teaspoons of corn starch with 2 teaspoons of water to make a slurry and put it aside. In a small saucepan, mix together all the sauce ingredients.
  4. Heat the sauce on medium for 2 minutes, then stir in the corn starch slurry to thicken it. Allow the sauce to reach a boil, stirring constantly until it thickens, about 3 more minutes.
  5. Once the sauce is ready, place the cooked chicken in a bowl and pour the sauce over it. Mix thoroughly to cover the chicken evenly. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a healthier option, use low sodium soy sauce to reduce the overall salt content in the dish.
  • Mince the garlic and ginger finely to evenly distribute their flavors throughout the sauce.
  • Cook the chicken in a single layer without overlapping in the air fryer for the perfect texture.
